friends

We had the pleasure of having great friends over for a visit Friday for supper. Both Andrew and I love having people over. Unfortunately, it takes a friend visiting from Winnipeg to actually get people together. I know for myself that I place expectations on what the house needs to look like, the kind of food I prepare, etc. I know I'm not alone in this problem. And the silly thing is that I place none of these expectations on the people we visit. I could care less if a house has been vacuumed or dusted. And a recent dinner where we all shared hot dogs together was perfect. I am working on it. I was able to keep things relatively simple. I still found myself considering buying a pie for dessert, but wanted to make something homemade instead. Okay, I have to chalk that up to just wanting to try a new recipe and enjoying the process of baking. (I'll share the yummy strawberry rhubarb crumble recipe later this week.) See, you all get to benefit from this decision too. I've tested a new recipe that turned out great.

Well, the camera had to come out for our evening together. I wanted to capture the event, I needed to get my photo for the day and some people were kinda excited about appearing on a certain blog. Some weren't. So, our friend Gina was in town visiting and got to see us and our kids. Our friends John, Andrea and their two kids, also joined us. Andrew, Gina and John all attended bible college together. The last time we saw Gina was around 5 years ago. Abigail was around 2 years old and was so shy around Gina. I remember Gina working so hard to engage Abigail. I had to remind Gina about this and let her know that Abigail would be VERY different this time round. Gina is wonderful with children and Abigail loves spending time with adults that are genuine in their interest about her.

So, here is Abigail with her new best friend, Gina. Plus John and Andrew.

Abigail loved all the special attention and was very sad the next day when Gina had to leave.

So, while the adults chatted, a certain someone took advantage of some unsupervised time. Little did he know that he was being documented every step of the way.

Yes, the ice cream was left in arm's reach. Too bad it was completely melted.

But the yummy dessert was accessible PLUS no one was saying anything.

Uh oh. Someone's been spotted.

Be charming and cute. This always works.

Mission accomplished.

Then the little stinker got inside and locked the door. No, he does not know how to unlock the door. No worries. The basement was open.

What a little stinker! I didn't even notice that Jesse was helping himself to more. :-)
