dinner and a show

Yes, it was a weekend full of birthdays. We celebrated Jesse on the 30th and my birthday on the 31st. As the birthday girl, I was able to choose the restaurant we went to for supper. I have always wanted to visit the Japanese restaurant that offers teppanyaki and finally got a chance to visit. I have been to teppanyaki restaurants in China, Taiwan and Toronto. I knew my kids would love the theatrics involved with watching our food being prepared right in front of us. We also initiated Andrew's parents to a new cuisine.

Before the cooking show began, we had some time to kill.

Jesse was having lots of fun flying through the air.

There is something so adorable about a two year old saying "Shushi". Abigail and Jesse chose sushi over the teppanyaki menu. Andrew just had to disassemble Jesse's maki roll before eating.

When the cooking started, Nathaniel couldn't keep his eyes off all the action.

Yes, Jesse was also entranced.

Andrew's steak was getting some flambe action here. Jesse kept saying "More fire!" Although Nathaniel liked the fire, he was a bit scared and was found hiding under the table a few times.

After supper, Jesse discovered a lemon from my dinner. He likes lemons.

And likes the attention it brings even more I think.

Jesse could not understand why Daddy wasn't sharing the tall glass of apple juice with him.

We then went home and enjoyed some birthday cake.
The kids loved this new Japanese eating experience. Unfortunately I have seen much better teppanyaki presentations. We'll have to head to Toronto someday and experience the real deal.
