florida - part five

For most of our vacation, we stayed away from crowds and tourist attractions.  Near the end of our vacation, we took advantage of a beautifully warm day and visited Siesta Key Beach.  First we stopped for lunch at the Old Salty Dog.

Hey Handsome!

After a yummy fish wrap, we lucked out in finding a parking spot and walked to the beach.

Abigail got busy and organized all of our sandals.

We all loved the texture of the sand.  The kids went right into digging mode.

 There were tons of pelicans!

A definite highlight of our trip.

florida - part four

On our third day in Florida, we discovered Caspersen beach and went searching for shark's teeth.

We found lots!

When we got home, the older two had a quick swim in the pool before bedtime.

 Jesse and Andrew went fishing.

The next day the temperature was beautiful and we spent lots of time in the pool.

Here's the thing with 3 kids.  Dynamics when all 3 are involved don't always work.  Usually the boys join a team and Abigail struggles to find a space in their play.  (This is probably why Abigail still asks for a sister!)  But when one child is taken out of the equation, wonderful connections are made.  It was so amazing to watch Abigail and Jesse play in the pool while Nathaniel played catch outside of the pool with me or Andrew.  So many smiles and giggles between those two.

One of my favorites from our trip.

Later the dynamics changed when Abigail took a break from swimming and the boys played together in the pool.
