reno progress - main floor

So much has happened since I shared our before and demo pictures.  Framing was complete ages ago.  Brand new wiring, plumbing, vents for new air conditioning and an air exchanger are in place.  Our home is tight as can be with spray insulation on every exterior wall.  Dry wall is in place.  The mudding and taping will be finished by the end of the week.  The stairs for the basement and attic are in.  Our main stairs are being installed on Friday.  Painters begin next week.  Phew.  Our lives have been a whirlwind.  I am predicting that the next two months are going to be agony.  Seeing the major progress and knowing that the finishing touches will mean another two months of waiting will be trying on my patience.

For now, I remain excited for the transformation of our home.  Walking through on Monday, seeing all the drywall up was amazing to see.  If the tapers weren't still hard at work, I probably would have done a happy dance right here in the middle of my dining room.  Let me share all the exciting changes...

Above is the insulated and drywalled den/music room.  This was Abigail's old room.

Above are pictures of our dining room.  This was the boys' bedroom.

Above you can see the transition from the dining room/den into the kitchen.  I still need to find flooring for this space.

The living room.  From the stairs.  That used to be my bedroom!

Above is our family room, taken from the kitchen.  You can now see the dropped ceiling.

The above view shows the mudroom door and the wall that will have new cabinetry and our office nook.
