brooke and ben

I was so excited for my photo session with Brooke and Ben.  I'd never met them before but had heard that Brooke was equally excited to capture some maternity shots.  Of course in October we can receive some gorgeous weather.  We were not so lucky on the day we picked for me to drive up to their lovely farm.  It started raining shortly after I arrived and it certainly was not warm.  But I was amazed at how this didn't phase these two one bit.  They were so willing to be adventurous and didn't complain once about being wet or cold.  It was with that spirit that we got so many lovely shots of the two of them.

Again, I couldn't play favorites and will show you just a portion of the MANY pictures I took that day.

Thank goodness for their covered porch.  That definitely saved us from getting completely drenched outside.

Ben's homemade pickles - a definite craving for Brooke during her pregnancy.

These shots of them laughing are right up there as my favorites.

We then ventured out into their property.  We had umbrellas while we walked and set up the shots.  When I was ready to take the picture, the umbrella got thrown into the tall grasses.

Love this one too.

And only Brooke will remember the discomfort on sitting on a bumpy wet rock for these pictures.  We'd never know.

I can totally see this shot in future years with the house in the background and their beautiful children playing in the field.

And these troopers pressed on to get a few last pictures outside.  Then inside to get warm and dry.

Brooke and Ben - I can't wait to return to your lovely old farmhouse and meet your son.  Let's hope it's not too long a wait!

Catherine -- just getting caught up on my blog reading after a crazy first month here in DC.

Congratulations to Brooke and Ben. I love the celebration of the inauguration of motherhood and fatherhood. I think these photos do a great job of capturing how joyful and precious that time can be.
