the party

Dear Abigail,
Last Sunday you had your 8th birthday party. This was the year that you got to invite lots of friends to celebrate with you. We held the party at the local grocery store and had a cooking class party. You were so excited for the party to begin. Before we left for the party, we had just enough time to curl your hair. You just beamed when you saw yourself. You looked a lot like this.

As friends arrived everyone talked excitedly as they made their own chef's hat.

It was then time to begin cooking. Everyone got in line to wash hands. Jesse was right in there ready to join in all the fun during your party.

Nathaniel was ready to begin making the pizza dough.

Everyone had their own flour, yeast, sugar and salt.

Wavey, the cooking instructor, taught everyone about the yeast.

You were ready to start kneading your dough.

Jesse and Nathaniel shared a portion of dough. They got lots of help from Daddy.

When the dough was ready, it was time to put on the toppings. Jesse's favorite part of your party was chopping his pizza toppings.

You kept your pizza simple - sauce, cheese, ham.

When the pizzas went in the oven, it was time to decorate the cakes to take home. Everyone ate a lot of icing during the process.

Jesse needed a bit of help icing his cake.

You were excited to make lots of different coloured flowers on your cake. You did not skip on the icing. (I know this is your favorite part of the cake!)

While most people were very generous with their decorating, Jesse chose the opposite. He was very careful when placing the sprinkles on his cake.

Daddy being silly again. He was ready to take a bite out of your cake. It just looked so good!

Your cake is at the front of the picture. You were almost finished with all of your flowers. Nathaniel ended by putting a few volcanoes on his cake.

Next it was time for fruit kebobs. This was Nathaniel's favorite part of your party.

Here are all of your party guests eating their homemade pizzas.

Next it was present time. Can you guess that this was your favorite part? I have so many pictures of you with excited faces after receiving so many thoughtful gifts. But this gift was one of the most exciting. Sarah and Julia made a bed for your Taryn doll. You have loved their homemade doll bed and finally got one for your own. Julia was so excited for you to open this gift she could hardly contain herself.

The party ended with cake. We all sang to you.

And you blew out your candles.

You had to try a few times to get all the candles out.

I hope you remember all these fun details from your 8th birthday party. Everyone had such a great time celebrating you.
Love Mom
