easter favorites part one

It is that time again. Time to share some of the photos that were captured this past Easter weekend. Personally, I had a lot of fun experimenting with some shots. I started an online photography course last week and am trying to implement the new things that I am learning. I am really trying to be thoughtful with my photos and not rely too heavily on cropping after the fact. So here is round one.

All the kids Easter baskets waiting on the front lawn.

Easter paska.

Andrew captured this great shot.

The changing of the winter tires. This is becoming a bit of a tradition that started with Andrew changing the tires last year on Good Friday. The boys were all about helping out. No big surprise there.

Evelyn and Abigail colouring eggs.

This was Jesse's first year colouring eggs. It has always happened during his naptime.

Nathaniel was the last to colour eggs as he was outside changing tires with Andrew.

One question that has been raised in my photography course is how to take pictures of kids. This demonstrates two of my techniques. Give them a treat (paska) and have someone behind me making goofy faces (Andrew).

One serious shot of Andre. I have MANY goofy faces of him too.

Story time with Grandma (my mom).

Time for the Easter egg hunt. Each child has a certain colour of eggs that they are searching for. Jesse was orange. Everyone else had to really hunt for their eggs this year. This was after complaining that last year's were too easy.

Jesse had to show Grandma his first found egg.

My beautiful Abigail.

As I said, the eggs were a bit tricker this year. Nathaniel was getting a wee bit of help from Andrew.

Evelyn. Here I was practicing a new technique of framing my subject. The wall and branch frame her body and face.

Abigail and Jesse, hand and hand, looking for those last few eggs.
The trickiest egg to find. This was Marlana's last egg to find. She needed a bit of help finding it and getting it out. Andrew had to start the van engine and it shot right out. That would have been a great shot!

Marlana.

Nathaniel finding the chocolates in the eggs.

The 3 girls wearing their new Easter outfits from Grandma and Grandpa. (Andrew took this shot.)

I hope to get up some more pictures from our gathering on Saturday.
