mudroom before

Okay, I am severely behind on documenting our home renovation.  I am hoping to have more time in the next couple of weeks to finish off all the before pictures.  For now, I will share our mudroom.  This is the space that our family enters and exits every single day.  When you enter our house, you pass through the mudroom and right into the family room/kitchen.  Check out the house plans here to see the mudroom location. We do not use our main entrance.  Pre-reno the front hall kept our bike stroller.  Post reno our front entrance will probably be used mainly for guests.  Because our mudroom sees so much use, we knew it needed to be much bigger and have much better storage.  This was the room that made me cringe and hate our house every time I passed through this space.

The new design will be so much bigger and better.  Below is the mudroom with all the walls ripped out.  The new wall will be constructed right where the broom handle rests against the wall.  We'll have a closet and storage with locker style cupboards for the kids coats and backpacks.  The room was also very cold in the winter, so we are transferring one of our rads to sit under the window.  It will be perfect for all the winter hats and mitts to warm up before heading outside.
