The advent calendars came out last week. This is proof that the Christmas season has begun. Up until this weekend, there weren't many things in my mind that were reminding me what this month is about. Honestly, I haven't really gotten into the Christmas spirit yet. I have found myself focusing on work (doing lots of reading to prepare for my clients) and the day to day needs of my family and home. I am mindful of creating this Christmas excitement for my children. Despite Andrew being gone on another course this past weekend, I tried to get out with them to experience some of our community events. Friday night we visited a live Nativity play (with the help of my dad - thank you!). Hearing the Christmas songs and seeing the story of Jesus' birth allowed me the time to stop and begin the process of preparing for 25th. On Saturday afternoon the 4 of us went to City Hall for the annual German Christmas market. I have never gone before and despite the crowds, the kids said they had a great time. Abigail participated in some crafts, we saw the electric train display (a definite highlight), stood in line in the cold for hot dogs and potato pancakes, splurged on cotton candy and watched some German dancers. My challenge for this week...to stop, watch my children and soak up all of their excitement for Christmas.
