the perfect gift

This week really got away on me.  I had hoped to focus on Jesse's birthday and post a lot of pictures from his special day.  It is now a week later and here they are.  I hope the amount of pictures makes up for the lateness.

In case you didn't know, both my boys are super excited about trucks - especially fire trucks.  They often play fire rescue on the couch with both being firefighters or one of them being the driver and the other playing the fire dog.  They'll ask me where the fire is and zoom over to put it out.  They both love it.  And how amazing was it that we were able to have a personal tour at a fire station on Jesse's birthday!  It was perfect!

We arrived at our friend Bryce's fire station.  The kids immediately hopped into the truck.

They got to try on the firefighter's outfit.

Check out Nathaniel's delight!

Next it was Jesse's turn.

The outfit is big and heavy.

Jesse's didn't care at all.  He was in heaven!

He was also completely taken with firefighter Bryce.  He (along with the other two) had lots of questions and wasn't shy to get Bryce's attention and ask them.

Future firewoman!!!

The kids got pretty comfortable sitting in the truck.

Jesse's discovered the mirrors.

Bryce went through all whole truck and showed us all the equipment.  My kids were so focused.

They weren't bored for a minute.

We got to look around the firestation.

Then ask more questions.

We were so lucky to have Bryce to walk us through life as a firefighter.  He was so great with the kids and calmly answered all of their burning questions.

He even turned on the lights for us.

We got to try out the heat sensor equipment.

I think you get the idea.

I had to sneak in this beautiful shot of my girl.

Yes, Jesse became very comfortable at the firestation.

He really didn't want to leave.  But he was promised another tour whenever he wanted.  It was the perfect birthday gift.
