I spotted my first fallen leaf yesterday afternoon in our backyard. There was this moment of dread when I realized that the summer was almost over and fall is just around the corner. I had to try not to panic and go screaming out of our backyard (remember the Tim Horton's commercial) but rather focus on the reality that our beautiful sugar maple would soon be turning colour and dropping all her beautiful leaves. It helped that my neighbour's aunt from Columbia was also there picking up the coloured leaves and marvelling for the first time at how beautiful nature is here in Canada. It helps to see the change of seasons from a newcomer's eyes.

Yes, it's hard to believe that September has already arrived and we're back into fall (and school) season. I must admit that I do love fall, but I'm certainly sad that we didn't experience more of a summer season this year. Regardless, my summer months were great!
