Like so many others of you, today we are back to our daily routine. No more lingering in bed, lounging in pj's, or taking our time eating breakfast. We are back to making sure everyone's teeth are brushed, that the lunch is ready to go in the backpack and hurrying out the door. Abigail had nervous butterflies in her tummy this morning and barely ate any breakfast. She talked about being nervous but was ready to go when our neighbours rang the doorbell to share the walk down our street (they go to the Catholic school). She clung to my side when we waited for the doors to open and still complained about her nervousness as we waited for her name to be called out. Luckily the school had posted the class lists on Friday, so it was one less surprise to find out who her teacher is and which friends she would be with. Abigail has an AMAZING teacher, one that people refer to as the best in the school. This will be her last year of teaching so we are lucky to have her. Too bad the boys won't have the opportunity to be with her. When Abigail's name was called she walked right up and joined the line. Her nerves seemed to disappear and she waved with confidence as she walked out to see her new classroom. She did amazing.
Nathaniel had his 20 minute interview this morning with his JK teacher and will begin next Thursday. That will be another story for another day.
And for those of you who are just beginning as a parent with school age children, think about starting a tradition of taking a picture of your child in the same spot each year. My kids quickly stand by the tree in our front yard and I get a quick picture before we head for the first day. It's a nice way of seeing how your children have grown over the years.
Here's Abigail over the last 4 years (Yikes, I can't believe it's been 4 years!!)...

Junior Kindergarten
Senior Kindergarten

Grade One

Grade Two (she coordinated her own outfit!)

Yes, she really has grown...and grown up! My nephew starts grade 2 tomorrow and my niece starts kindergarten next week as well. I look forward to hearing their stories.
